Giving at FBC Medfield
At FBC Medfield we believe giving to the local church is both a calling and a privilege for believers. It is out of the abundant grace which God our Father has bestowed on us that we respond to that grace with praise, adoration and giving. Just as we love him because he first loved us (1 John 4:19), we give to him because he has already given to us all things (Romans 8:17, 32), and made us fellow heirs with Christ.
The Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth that "...whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Cor 9:6-7). With this in mind, we would encourage you to give as an expression of joy, praise and worship to the God who created the universe and showered his love upon you. On the other hand, if giving is a chore or burdensome for you, know that giving will be of no benefit to you. We would encourage you to ask God to change your heart and your attitude toward him before you give.
Remember, it is not the amount that is important. What God seeks is a grateful, sacrificial heart that desires to give (Luke 21:1-4).
